Coronavirus measures reinstated
Update August 5th, 2020
The Minister of Public Health announced that a total of 39 new cases were confirmed on Wednesday, August 5th. Over a period of 3 days (3rd – 5th of August), a total of 49 new cases were registered.
The Prime Minister announced the following measures to be implemented with immediate effect as of August 5th, 2020:
- Any kind of facemask is required in public transport (including taxis and tour buses) and in all establishments where a service is rendered. Requirements may be introduced for the quality of the facemask if the spreading continues into ‘level 3’. Furthermore, wearing a proper facemask that covers the nose and mouth is required to enter the hospital.
- All bars, rum shops, and nightclubs will be closed.
- No large-scale public or private parties at a private residence are allowed.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced/clarified the following:
- In regards to funerals: the maximum number of persons allowed at the funeral home or church (25 persons) also applies to the number of persons at the cemetery.
- Gatherings on public premises consisting of more than 4 persons are not allowed, with the exception of certain wedding ceremonies on the beach, and families (father, mother, and children) consisting of more than 4 members who live together under one roof.
- There will be no singing in churches.
- There will be no visits to elderly homes.
- Curacao officially closed its borders with Aruba in the evening/night hours of August 5th. Aruban residents in Curacao who wish to return to Aruba should do so as soon as possible.
- Whether schools will open on August 20th is still under deliberation.
The Court in First Instance announced that a facemask is required to enter the Court premises.

August 3rd, 2020
The Department of Public Health announced the reinstatement of the following coronavirus measures:
- Wearing a facemask is strongly recommended inside and outside of businesses if a safe distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained and/or in places without a separation at the counter.
- Elderly homes, churches, funeral homes, gyms, and all other organizations must strictly enforce their protocols.
- Tables at restaurants will have a maximum of 4 seats excluding children under the age of 12.
- No seats directly at the bar are allowed.
- No live music activities with a band or a DJ are allowed.
- No indoor group sports; no indoor and outdoor contact sports.
- Gatherings are not allowed, which entails a group consisting of more than 4 persons on public premises.
