Prime Minister:
- There were 67 new cases registered today, August 10th, 2020. The decreasing tendency is a good sign according to the Prime Minister.
Minister of Tourism & Public Health:
- Almost 4,000 persons were tested in the past 4 days. Aruba is among the countries that perform the most tests.
- There are currently no Corona-patients in the hospital. For that reason, there is no need for additional or stricter measures at the moment.
- Certain private laboratories are no longer allowed to perform tests because they did not meet the requirement of the Aruba government to make the results available within 24 hours.
DVG:
- The same protocol that applies to tourists, now also applies to residents: after having been tested, the person must self-quarantine and await the result. The result will be available within 24 to 48 hours.
- A person should only test if there are symptoms and after medical consultation. The physician makes the final decision.
- If a member of a family living together under one roof tests positive on the basis of a lab test, the other family members must self-quarantine.
- Persons who travel to the Netherlands, including students, must adhere to the rules of the Netherlands and self-quarantine for 2 weeks.
August 9th, 2020
In total 54 new cases were registered from 921 tests performed which is a considerable decrease according to the Prime Minister.
August 8th, 2020
In total there were 1,030 tests performed yesterday. Today August 8th, 2020, 113 new cases were registered (105 residents, 8 non-residents). Compared to the total of 133 cases yesterday, according to the Prime Minister this is a good sign.
August 7th, 2020
133 new cases registered. No additional measures announced as yet.
August 6th, 2020
92 new cases confirmed. All quarantined. According to the Prime Minister to be expected due to more tests being done.
August 5th, 2020
The Minister of Public Health announced that a total of 39 new cases were confirmed on Wednesday, August 5th. Over a period of 3 days (3rd – 5th of August), a total of 49 new cases were registered.
The Prime Minister announced the following measures to be implemented with immediate effect as of August 5th, 2020:
- Any kind of facemask is required in public transport (including taxis and tour buses) and in all establishments where a service is rendered. Requirements may be introduced for the quality of the facemask if the spreading continues into ‘level 3’. Furthermore, wearing a proper facemask that covers the nose and mouth is required to enter the hospital.
- All bars, rum shops, and nightclubs will be closed.
- No large-scale public or private parties at a private residence are allowed.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced/clarified the following:
- In regards to funerals: the maximum number of persons allowed at the funeral home or church (25 persons) also applies to the number of persons at the cemetery.
- Gatherings on public premises consisting of more than 4 persons are not allowed, with the exception of certain wedding ceremonies on the beach, and families (father, mother, and children) consisting of more than 4 members who live together under one roof.
- There will be no singing in churches.
- There will be no visits to elderly homes.
- Curacao officially closed its borders with Aruba in the evening/night hours of August 5th. Aruban residents in Curacao who wish to return to Aruba should do so as soon as possible.
- Whether schools will open on August 20th is still under deliberation.
The Court in First Instance announced that a facemask is required to enter the Court premises.
August 3rd, 2020
The Department of Public Health announced the reinstatement of the following coronavirus measures:
- Wearing a facemask is strongly recommended inside and outside of businesses if a safe distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained and/or in places without a separation at the counter.
- Elderly homes, churches, funeral homes, gyms, and all other organizations must strictly enforce their protocols.
- Tables at restaurants will have a maximum of 4 seats excluding children under the age of 12.
- No seats directly at the bar are allowed.
- No live music activities with a band or a DJ are allowed.
- No indoor group sports; no indoor and outdoor contact sports.
- Gatherings are not allowed, which entails a group consisting of more than 4 persons on public premises.
