Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) is a branched spiny shrub up to 1.5-2 meters tall with a long creeping rhizome that develops aboveground biennial shoots. The leaves are alternate, complex, and pinnate. Leaflets are ovate, glabrous above, and sulfur-yellow in color. The plant has white flowers on long pedicels. Fruits are red prefabricated drupes (1-2 cm in diameter). Ripe fruits are easily separated from the white conical receptacle. It blooms in June-July, sometimes in September; the fruits ripen from late July to September.
